Our Namesake
Charles Coburn Jerome was shot down in the Pacific in the closing weeks of World War II—an unnecessary sacrifice made while standing at the threshold of peace. Yet it was a sacrifice he was willing to make, guided by a profound sense of duty and gratitude for the opportunities that had shaped his family’s life since their arrival from Sweden. A descendant of immigrants who valued integrity, hard work, and service to others, Charles lived those ideals with quiet conviction and unwavering purpose.
He carried his oath of service with him until the end, a reflection of his deep belief in commitment beyond self. His life stands as a testament to the strength of character found in those who choose to serve—those who act not for recognition, but from principle.
